The 2012 Farm Bill officially has the support of the Arkansas Rice Federation. The organization sent a letter Friday to key members of the U.S. House Agriculture Committee.
Unlike in previous years, the 2012 Farm Bill does not include direct payments to farmers due to intense budget cutting efforts. But Charmain Dow Brantley said in his letter the proposed legislation would "provide flexility and effective assistance when income and market conditions warrant."
In his letter, Brantley also gave special thanks to Congressman Rick Crawford of Arkansas who sits on the House committee and worked on the legislation.
The
House Agriculture Committee is expected to vote on the 2012 Farm Bill sometime
next week.
The Arkansas Rice Federation is an umbrella organization, representing the Arkansas Rice Producers' Group, Arkansas Rice Council, Arknasas Rice Millers, and Arkansas Rice Merchants.
