Benton Man Accused of Shooting His Father

A Benton man is behind bars, accused of shooting his own father.
Jason Depriest, 27, is being held on $50,000 bond, charged with attempted murder.
The Saline County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) says Ricky Depriest, 52, was wounded in the Wednesday night incident on Gunter Loop, suffering a gunshot to the back.
Deputies were called to the scene just after 8:30, where the SCSO says the younger Depriest met them at the home and surrendered without incident. His father was taken to the hospital.
The SCSO says the men were arguing when Jason Depriest pulled a pistol on his father. Ricky Depriest tried to run away from his son, who then began firing multiple shots at him, the SCSO said.
