FBI Warns Against Malware

By:
Updated: July 6, 2012

The FBI is telling Internet users if you do not have your computers checked for a virus by July 9th, you will not have access to the Internet.

It's called DNS Changer Malware, and if it's on your computer, the malware modifies settings, allowing hackers to cash in on their users.

Luckily the FBI caught it and is shutting it down, but that means if you don't get your computer cleaned now, you could be left in the dark this weekend.

"Any infected computers will end up not having internet access any further," explains Scott Fendley, the Information Security Manager for the University of Arkansas. "They won't be able to find Google.com, instead they'll get a blank screen saying, 'Hey, I can't find this server."

University of Arkansas IT guys say this virus has also affected some wireless routers, meaning your phone or even a Mac could have it.
