Update: Three More Arkansas Counties Issue Burn Bans

By: KARK 4 News
Updated: July 5, 2012
Update (4:00 p.m.)

Little River County was added to the list this afternoon. That leaves only two counties NOT under burn bans (Calhoun and Desha).

Original story (8:45 a.m.):

Two more Arkansas counties have issued burn bans, bringing the total to 72 of the state's 75 counties to join the list.

The Sevier County Judge imposed a burn ban today, along with the Drew County Judge.

The bans will remain in effect until further notice.

The hot and dry spell gripping Arkansas has greatly increased the probablity of fires getting out of control. There have been numerous wildfires and grass fires over the past couple of weeks.

According to the Arkansas Forestry Commission latest burn bans map (click here), only three Arkansas counties are NOT under burn bans, including: Little River, Desha and Calhoun.
