Pulaski County Grass Fire Grows Dangerously Close To Homes

By: Jocelyn Tovar, KARK 4 News
Updated: July 1, 2012
A nearly 20 acre grass fire in southern Pulaski County was a rekindle from an overnight house fire in Sweet Home.

The fire that originally began near Highway 365 and Ola Brown Road destroyed the home, however no other houses were damaged.

Fire crews from five area departments responded to the fire.

Deputies with the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office tell KARK that conditions made the flames difficult to fight.

"The biggest challenge is the heat," said Sergeant Theodore Haasy. "That it's dry, and you can feel the wind keeps picking-up, and every time it does it spreads it a little further."

There's an open investigation into what started the original house fire that led to this reburn.
