Families say goodbye, Saturday, to their loved ones being sent off to a dangerous mission in Afghanistan.

A tearful send-off, no doubt, for the 100 national guard members deploying this morning from the 1039th engineer company.

For many of them it's the second deployment into war, and for about a dozen it's their third time fighting overseas.

This group is tasked with clearing roadways of explosive devices while ensuring safe travel for other soldiers.

KARK certainly wishes them all a safe mission and a safe trip home in about a year.

God bless our troops and return them home safely!
