State Capitol Holds Graduation Ceremonies for State Trooper Recruits

29 Arkansas State Police Trooper Recruits attended their graduation today at the Arkansas State Capitol. Since reporting for duty on February 26th, the recruit class has logged nearly 1,000 hours of training and studies.

Those recruits are:

Callie M. Dacus, 23, of Mountain Home
Ernesto Echevarria, 28, of DeQueen
Philip Ryan Felton, 31, of Bryant
Darren P. Henley, 27, of Hope
Jason W. Hooks, 26, of Paragould
Ryan J. Leuer, 27, of DeWitt, Iowa
Cleyton M. McDonald, 26, of Jacksonville
Jason A. McGlawn, 34, of Arnold, Missouri
Andrew Tyler Metcalf, 24, of Brookland
Eric C. Miller, 28, of Neosho, Missouri

The new troopers will be placed with a certified departmental Field Training Office where they will work for a 12-week transitional period. After that period, each recruit will be released to their respective Highway Patrol Division.

There were also special recognition and awards in the categories of academics, firearms, physical fitness and Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC).

The keynote speaker for the ceremonies was Morril Harriman, Chief of Staff for Governor Mike Beebe. The graduates were presented their commissions by Colonel JR Howard, Director of the Arkansas State Police.
