Smith is a Ranger with the Arkansas Forestry Commission. Porto is a pilot for the commission.
They met face-to-face for the first time Tuesday within one hour before they had to race to put out three fires in North Central Faulkner County.
KARK took to the air with Porto on a surveillance mission and then we hit the ground where Smith was battling the fire.
