On Thursday, work on the new "front door to the city of Searcy" will begin with a groundbreaking ceremony.

A groundbreaking for the new airport terminal, located adjacent to the current terminal at the Searcy Municipal Airport on South Main Street, will begin promptly at 11:30 a.m., with lunch to immediately follow provided by First Security Bank.

Lunch will be held in the hangar of Bulldog Helicopter due to the extreme heat.

The terminal is expected to cost an estimated $842,087.50 and the city has already secured $600,000 between two grants from the Arkansas Department of Aeronautics Commission.
