Local AM Buzz: Pine Bluff and Hot Springs Detectives Track Down Murder Suspect, South AR Town Holding Election to Help PD

Pine Bluff and Hot Springs authorities work together to track down a murder suspect.
Pine Bluff Detectives received word Monday that Lester Phillips, a murder suspect, was at a house on Hagen Drive in Hot Springs.
Garland County Sheriff's Office, SWAT team and hostage negotiators were able to secure the house and get Phillips out without incident.
South Arkansas Town Holding Election to Help Police Department
One south Arkansas town is holding an election to help their Police Department today.
City residents are voting on a 1/4 cent sales tax increase.
Police Chief Glenn Maxwell with the Magnolia Police Department says they need this money to help fix leaking ceiling tiles, stained carpets, and cramped halls at the Department in Columbia County.
Two Hogs Competing in Olympic Swimming Trials Tuesday
The Olympic dream continues for eight members of the University of Arkansas Swimming & Diving Teams as they prepare to compete at the U.S. Olympic team trials this week in Omaha.
Today, Nikki Daniels competes in the 100-meter breaststroke and Chelsea Franklin competes in the 400-freestyle. The competition will select up to 26 men and women to represent the United States at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
