LRSD Parents Fight to Keep Removed Principals

Crowds of parents filled LRSD Headquarters Monday night, fighting to keep their schools' principals days after a massive shuffle within the district.
Parents from Western Hills and Williams petitioned for two special meetings to present their concerns to the district.
"I ask you to reconsider this and not try to fix something that's not broken, Western Hills is working very well," said parent Dorinda McKissick.
McKissick and other parents addressed the LRSD school board, pushing to keep principal Scott Morgan, who she and other parents say mean the world to their students.
"He was kind of goofy," said Destiny, McKissick's daughter.
While Western Hills parents spoke about Morgan, one of 17 administrators switched in a plan to boost all schools, students from Williams Magnet School started setting up for their presentation outside.
"I want a good principal, I don't want a bad principal," said 5 year-old Olivia Nony.
Western Hills parents boasted Morgan's tenure, nearly 20 years.
Parent Michael Woolfolk said, "We're like a family, we feel like we have broken up without a chance to say goodbye."
Williams principal Sandra Register has only been in place two years, but these families say they want many more.
"We've been really good with Mrs. Register and we want to keep that up," added student Audrey Nony.
But are the signatures, skits and signs enough to encourage the superintendent to change his mind?
"We will have to take it into great consideration what they said, as you know it's not an easy chore to move over 13 principals," responded Dr. Morris Holmes.
Parents say they plan to continue pushing back at the district's next meeting Thursday.
