On Wednesday, June 20th, the Bentonville Police and Fire Departments were called to a report of a fire in the Kensington Subdivision on the Northeast side of town.
The homeowner told Police and Fire officials that the fire was in the master bedroom and may have been set intentionally by a grandson, 18 year-old Egan Andreasen.
Fire officials were able to keep the fire contained to the master bedroom, but the damage to the home was estimated at $15,000.
After an investigation, an arrest warrant for arson was issued for Andreasen. Police found him in the same area the following Monday and placed him under arrest for the Arson.
Later Monday, the homeowner returned to the property and found that the back doorknob had been removed and a water hose was pushed through the hole with water running into the house.
The water damage to the home was estimated to be in excess of another $10,000.
An investigation into the incident revealed that Andreasen was likely also responsible for the water damage and he was additionally charged with first degree criminal mischief.
Andreasen is now in the Benton County jail awaiting a bond hearing on both charges.
