Firefighters Taking Caution As They Battle Blazes

Record breaking temperatures and a weekend full of grassfires are a dangerous combination for the men and women charged with putting those fires out.

Fire crews battling fires in extreme heat, tell KARK, heat stroke is a very real issue. One firefighter this weekend was treated for heat exhaustion. He was released and is doing fine now.

Fire officials stress the importance of remaining hydrated while out fighting fires.

"At the city of Greenbriar we've gone through 5 cases of water in the last week. So we're keeping our guys hydrated."

The chief says an ambulance is dispatched every time fire crews go out as a precaution.
