Around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, the Franklin County Sheriff's office responded to reports of a fire off White Valley Road north of Ozark. When they arrived, they found a small car that had run off the road into a tree.
Upon closer inspection, they discovered human remains inside the car.
The body was badly burned and could not immediately be identified. Franklin County Sheriff Anthony Boen says the car, too, was so damaged, they could not determine the make, model or VIN number.
At this time, they do not suspect foul play. The Sheriff says he believes that the driver ran off the road and got stuck. He says there was evidence of the tires spinning rapidly. Right now, Sheriff Boen believes tall, dry grass underneath the car caught fire, which then ignited the vehicle.
The case, however, is still under investigation.
