Farmer Accidently Sparks Fire in Faulkner County

By: KARK 4 News
Updated: June 21, 2012
A farmer cutting hay accidentally sparked a grass fire that scorched 25 acres Wednesday afternoon.

According to John Robinson with the National Weather Service, the fire is an example of just how quickly a wildfire can start with conditions being as dry as they are.

Today's fire happened near Enola, off Heffington Cemetery Road, according to Robinson.

The farmer was cutting hay when the blade of the equipment struck a rock. The incident sparked a fire that quickly spread to nearby woods.

Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control before any structures were burned.
