Illegal Runoff Vote Allegations in Jefferson County

By: KARK 4 News
Updated: June 19, 2012
The Jefferson County Clerk's Office is looking into what appears to be some illegal votes in the recent runoff election.

The Pine Bluff Commercial reports that dozens of May 22 Republican primary voters were also allowed to cast ballots last week for Democratic candidates.

If a voter takes part in one party's primary, state law does not allow them to vote again in the runoff for the opposing party.

The Pine Bluff Commercial reports that the situation was discovered by the losing candidate in the county judge's race.

KARK 4 is looking into the story and will have more details to come.
