Keeping Deer Captive No Longer Allowed In Arkansas

Deer will no longer be allowed as pets in the state of Arkansas because of threat of disease. 

Game and Fish Commission officials confirmed as of July 1st 2012 wild deer will no longer be allowed to be kept in captivity in an effort to prevent the spread of chronic wasting disease.

A disease that affects deer, and other similar animals, has been found in areas around Missouri and Illinois.

This ban however does not apply to deer that are already being kept as pets inside the state.
