The Mosaic Templars Cultural Center in Little Rock was the place to be this weekend for the annual Juneteenth celebration.
The state holiday celebrates the day the last African American slaves learned they were free after the Civil War-two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
"It's all about freedom especially for us as Mosaic Templars, we are named by the national organization founded by two former slaves so we epitomize what African Americans were able to do in terms of the economy, once they were freed from slavery."
While the holiday honors African-American heritage, event organizers view Juneteenth as a celebration for the entire community.
The party continued until seven Saturday with food, vendors and just a lot of fun.
