Update (October 5):

A former chief of staff at the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) is facing various charges in an exam thefts case.

Jack Gillean, 55, was charged late this morning with a total of five counts by the Faulkner County Prosecutor's Office. Those charges include commercial burglary, fraudulent insurance acts and issuing a false financial statement.

Sources tell KARK 4 that Gillean is accused of helping a student steal exams from the offices of UCA professors.

Gillean resigned from his position at UCA back in June, after 16 years with the college and gave no reason for leaving.

More details to come.

Original story (June 16):

University of Central Arkansas said goodbye to another of their top leaders.

Chief of Staff, Jack Gillean resigned unexpectedly Friday and it was effective immediately.

He'd worked at UCA for 16 years, and gave no reason for leaving.

In May, a board member resigned amid a criminal investigation into a vendor contract controversy.

The Faulkner County prosecutor says Gillean's departure is not in anyway related to the investigation.
