Bryant Reconsidering Alcohol Tax

By: Marci Manley, KARK 4 News
Updated: June 14, 2012
According to City Attorney Chris Madison a June 25th workshop will allow city officials to work out details of what revenues from the tax could actually go toward for city business.

Since the council voted down passing the alcohol tax, the city has identified stormwater drainage and flooding issues that need to be addressed, with a price tag of roughly $385,000.

According to Madison, city officials have discussed specifically tying the revenues to stormwater drainage repairs and possibly emergency funds.

Rather than submit the ordinance to a City Council vote, however, city officials are leaning toward placing it on the November ballot for public approval.

The meeting to discuss the possibility of the Alcohol Tax is slated for Monday, June 25th, at City Hall.
