Ryan Longood, 14, has battled a rare condition that causes facial disfigurement for years.
Dr. James Suen, a head and neck surgeon at UAMS, is leading a research team that has replicated the disorder in lab mice. That's a major step in finding better treatments and a possible cure. The disorder occurs because of something that happens before birth but is not inherited.
