The Science Of Swallowing, Researchers Studying

Volunteers are needed for a study at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) that could aid in the treatment of people with swallowing disorders.

Healthy women ages 18-35 and 65 or older are needed to participate in the study to determine whether taste differences and aging affect the way people swallow. A 15-minute screening session will determine if participants are eligible to proceed.

Those accepted will participate in a two-hour research session in the UAMS Speech-Language Pathology Office. Compensation for both sessions will be provided. For information, call Cathy Pelletier, Ph.D., at (501) 686-8754.
