In a matter of minutes, smoke filled the hallways.
Residents said an oxygen tank explosion caused the fire.
Many of the residents had to be evacuated through windows because smoke filled hallways.
Many of the people we spoke to evacuated from the fire complained about how this building is set up for a fire evacuation.
Ventilation and escape were their main complaints.
The Little Rock Fire Department assured us the building is up to standards.
"With that much smoke, people got to realize that the building will fill up with smoke quickly, no matter what kind of ventilation you have with that size fire," said Little Rock Fire Department Captain Randy Hickman.
Update:
Tonight about two hundred residents of a Little Rock apartment complex cannot return home.
Many of them are elderly.
The Red Cross is assisting in finding people a place to stay.
This fire broke out around 8 p.m. at Plaza Towers off Markham and University.
Eight people have been injured, two are considered serious.
Two units are said to be completely destroyed, with smoke damage to much of the building.
Some people had to be rescued through windows because of the thick smoke.
