Trial Date Set for Drew County Couple Charged in Daughter's Death

A mid-October trial date has been set for the Drew County couple suspected in the late February death of their 2-year-old daughter Aubriana Coke. The child's step-father Daniel Pedraza and biological mother Victoria Pedraza are each charged with capital murder and permitting abuse of a child in connection with the toddler's death.

They say the toddler fell from a dock at Lake Monticello onto rocks the day before she died, but the state Medical Examiner listed Aubriana's death as a homicide with multiple blunt force injuries.

During a hearing on Monday, Circuit Judge Bynum Gibson set the couple's trial for October 15-29 and denied a defense motion to sever the cases.

Gibson denied the motion for severance without prejudice, meaning they can renew the motion, and set the case for pretrial on July 10 at 1 p.m.
