Updated: June 9, 2012
Ashley and Drew counties are seeing a good turnout for early voting in the upcoming primary runoff elections while Desha, Lincoln and Chicot counties are seeing a lower numbers. Bradley County totals were not available Friday afternoon because the county clerk's office was closed due to the Pink Tomato Festival.

Ashley and Drew counties each have one local runoff election in addition to the Fourth Congressional District runoff and District 26 State Senate runoff, while Desha County has two local runoff elections in addition to the First Congressional District runoff. Lincoln, Bradley and Chicot counties have no local runoff elections but do have runoffs for district-wide offices.

As of 3:30 p.m. Friday, there were 430 early votes cast in Ashley County where there is a runoff for county judge between Dennis Holland and Nick Martin, both Democrats from Hamburg; a runoff for the Democratic nomination for District 26 State Senator between Eddie Cheatham, of Crossett, and Gregg Reep, of Warren; and a runoff between Gene Jeffress, of Louann, and Q. Byrum Hurst, of Hot Springs, for the Democratic nomination for Arkansas' Fourth District Congressional seat.

The winner of the State Senate runoff will face Monticello businessman Mike Akin in November. Akin was unopposed in his bid for the Republican nomination. The winner of the Fourth Congressional District runoff will face Republican Tom Cotton in November. Cotton won the Republican nomination outright in a 3-person primary race with Beth Anne Rankin and John Cowart.

Drew County, which has a runoff between Josh Frost and Tonya Loveless for the Democratic nomination for County Collector, had 425 early voters as of 3:30 p.m. Friday. The winner will face Republican Andrea Huskey in November.

Other runoffs on the Drew County ballot are the District 26 State Senate runoff and the Fourth Congressional District runoff for the Democratic nomination.
