The
Arkansas baseball team will travel to Waco, Texas, to face No. 4 Baylor
in the NCAA Waco Super Regional, as announced late on Monday night by
the NCAA. The Super Regional will open on Saturday at 4 p.m. with game
two to be played on Sunday at 3 p.m. If
necessary, game three would be played on Monday at 3 p.m.
All three games of the Super Regional will be televised. The first and second
games will be shown live on ESPNU, while the if necessary game will be televised on ESPN2.
The
Razorbacks advanced to the Waco Super Regional after winning three
straight
games at the Houston Regional. Arkansas opened the regional with a 5-4
victory over Sam Houston State and then defeated No. 8 Rice, 1-0, to
advance to the regional championship game. The Razorbacks defeated Sam
Houston State, 5-1, in the regional final.
Arkansas
is in the Super Regionals for the fifth time in program history and for
the third time in the last four seasons. The Razorbacks are 5-4 all-time
in Super Regional games. Arkansas is one of just eight college baseball
programs to advance to the Super Regionals in three of the last four
seasons.
Baylor,
a consensus top-five team, enters the Waco Super Regional with a 48-15
overall record. The Bears won the Big 12 regular season title after
finishing the league schedule with a 20-4 record. Baylor advanced to the
Super Regionals after winning the Waco Regional. The Bears battled out
of the loser's bracket, winning four straight
elimination games, including a pair of wins over Dallas Baptist in the
regional final.
