Mail Order Marijuana Lands Man in Jail

A Gentry man is accused of shipping 27-thousand dollars worth of pot... to himself.

The Benton county sheriff's office says Joseph Morretti traveled to Oregon, where medical marijuana is legal, and shipped it to a P.O. Box in Gentry - where it is not.

Last week, investigators got a tip about Morretti's activities and had a drug dog sniff one of his packages.

Officers then got a search warrant, opened the package and found the drugs.

Investigators set up a controlled pick up. They say Morretti had a third party come to the post office to get the package.

The sheriff's office says Morretti admitted to shipping the drugs and to trying to hide them.

"He had some air fresheners to disguise the odor of the marijuana, " says Sgt. Travis Newell ," And he cleaned the mason jars so it cleaned the residue off the jar."

Sgtt Newell also says Morretti also admitted to mixing the marijuana with other items to conceal it.

Morretti is facing charges of possession with intent to deliver.. and possibly some federal charges as well.
