Early Voting Turnout in Arkansas Considered Low

More than 88,000 voters in Arkansas cast their ballots early ahead on Tuesday's primary election.

The secretary of state's office announced the number on Twitter shortly after the polls closed.

Secretary of State Mark Martin predicted roughly 30 percent of the state's registered voters would take part in this year's election. According to Talk Business' Roby Brock, that figure is expected to be closer to 17 percent. Brock says early voting usually accounts for one-third of the total.

Turnout was predicted to be low due to no major statewide races being on the ballot.
