Airfare will take a bigger bite out of your summer vacation budget.

Ticket prices are averaging eight percent higher than the same time last year, according to FareCompare.com. A family of four should expect to pay about $100 more for airfare to hotspots like Orlando or Los Angeles if mom or dad procrastinates on buying the tickets. The average airfare for June runs between $338 and $362 to the top 50 cities.

The folks at Fare Compare suggest shopping on Tuesday afternoon, looking at nearby airports and being flexible on dates to save some bucks.
