NBC's Bob Hansen looks into whether or not companies are abiding by the national "Do Not Call" registry.
The worst thing is that with more and more people no longer having landlines and only having cell phones (like my household), I found out that the VERY FIRST DAY and VERY FIRST CALL I got on my cell phone was a telemarketing call while I was driving - I laid into that telemarketer by acting like I was going into a car wreck (used sound effects, was pulled off the road at the time) and left that particular caller with the fear of God that I was going to sue her and her company for the damages of the supposed wreck I had supposedly just had. I think people should just let the telemarketers know that it will get extremely expensive for them to continue calling people on the Do Not Call list, I have documents to fill out for each call I get from a telemarketer so that should I get more than one from an offending company, I will get ALL of the info on them to be able to get them prosecuted. We are aware, all of us that we can sue these telemarketers for $500 per time they call us if the person they are calling is on the Do Not Call List, right? I got rid of the landline and got a cell phone because cell phones were SUPPOSED to be legally protected from being called by telemarketers and I wanted to only get calls from family/friends for either information or emergency use.
