Wedding season is in full swing and the folks at Mark Monitor, a brand protection firm, have some tips to avoid getting scammed on your dress.

Budget-savvy brides may search online for a dress deal but not every website is a dream come true.

Here are some red flags:
  • a price that's too good to be true
  • return and privacy policies which are confusing or ambiguous
  • check the designer's website to see if the site you're considering is an authorized retailer
  • search for the website adding the word "scam" to see if there are any complaints
