Wake up calls courtesy of the Jefferson County Sheriffs Department were made by knocking on doors looking for fathers not making child support payments.
"Make deadbeat dads accountable for taking care of their children." is the goal of the operation. Said Sheriff Gerald Robinson. If fathers can not pay with money they'll have to pay with time, time in jail.
"We do it all during the year, but this is a concentrated effort to make those who neglect child support to go and take care of it" said Robinson.
The sheriff says he has a seat in jail waiting for any father out there who's not paying to the point a warrant crosses his desk.
"It's not up to the mothers to take care of them alone. It's the fathers responsibility. So if you are a dead beat dad, understand, Sheriff Gerald Robinson will be coming after you."
Operation Mothers Day will run up until the weekend, but similar operations will continue all year long.
