From martial arts to rock climbing, amputees are taking on new challenges thanks to technology and specialized prosthetic limbs.
"After you go through some really hardcore tragedy of losing a limb you feel displaced again you know. You don't feel like you belong and you're different. So, martial arts got me back into what i love to do," said Carlos Gonzalez, amputee athlete.
At the UC San Francisco human performance center, amputees are testing out the latest prosthetics.
The athletes are reaching new fitness goals thanks in large part to technology that helps their prosthetics feel more like part of their body.
Specialized training is also helping amputees reach new heights.
