Warm Weather Welcomes Early Hay Production

Hay producers are getting a break this year as grass is growing earlier and faster than usual, thanks to near perfect weather conditions.

The University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, Division of Agriculture reports this year's production is a stark contrast to 2011. Last year, drought like conditions caused a hay shortage that proved costly and forced some farmers out of the business.

This year, producers are cutting hay, three weeks ahead of schedule, which could mean more overall this year.
