Philander Smith Chooses New President

Johnny Moore, an Arkansas native, is set to succeed outgoing president Walter Kimbrough.

According to a press release from the school, Moore will take over sometime in May.

Moore was born in Washington, AR was named to lead the traditionally black college by the board of trustees Friday.

Moore, a Philander graduate, comes to the school from Tyler Junior College in Tyler, TX.

Johnny Moore is replacing outgoing Philander president Walter Kimbrough.

Kimbrough is leaving the school after seven years.
