It is a scandal involving the internet, an Arkansas politician and the creator of "Girls Gone Wild," but it is probably not what you think.

It is a local story that is making national headlines. It started with an online auction for an internship with Senator Pryor's office, but turned into a mix of miscommunication.

"I thought it would be a really cute idea to send the hottest girl in the country to Washington D.C. Think Elle Woods the character of Legally Blond 2, really fun. Great opportunity," said Joe Francis, creator of "Girls Gone Wild."

He is currently hosting the reality television contest, "The Hottest Girl in America."

He also says he was the top-bidder in an online auction, scoring a summer internship in Washington D.C. with U.S. Senator Mark Pryor's office for only $2,500.

But in a statement, Pryor called the auction a hoax.

"We believe someone outside Senator Pryor's office has broken the law by fraudulently impersonating a U.S. Senator."

The auction was posted by the Wilshire Temple in Los Angeles and member Chad Brownstein, who knows Senator Pryor, confessed he started the entire thing.

He sent an apology letter stating, "I thought it might be possible to auction off an unpaid month-long summer internship for a high school student with your office. I said that if the person whose bid was selected was for whatever reason not approved, the temple would give the money back. I didn't realize that the item would be posted before I had a chance to check with your office. Nor did I realize that it would be posted without the caveat that the person would have to be approved. Unfortunately there was a miscommunication."

So the bucks are back in Francis' bank, but he wants more.

"I think the Senator should apologize to me and that's all I want, not going to be called a liar, that this is a hoax and have my reputation tarnished. I'm not going to be embarrassed by this guy."

But Senator Pryor says this hot-chick-internship-debacle is now out of his hands.

"As previously stated, I have never sold auctioned or donated internships. I am glad the responsible party has come forward to clear up the matter. I had already referred the case to the FBI, and it is now up to them to determine whether a crime has been committed."

So Francis might have to just keep on waiting for the Senator Pryor apology he is hoping for.

Comments

Joe Francis needs to realize his reputation is already tarnished and it is his own doings. If I didn't think he was an idiot before, I do now. If anybody owes anyone an apology... He owes an apology to the world for exposing young, drunk, vulnerable girls to the world. I'm sure that several [censored] offenders must be his biggest fans. Joe Francis... get a life worth living.
