Since the state dissolved the school board and stripped the unions of their bargaining power, several groups of parents are starting support groups of their own. Parents say someone from the public needs a voice.
Parent and Jacksonville NAACP President Rizelle Aaron said, "I think one of the things we have the ability to do is come together and get the state's attention and the board of education's attention because they're more likely to listen to the public than to the union because of the disagreements they're having with the union."
Aaron says the group organized through the NAACP is hoping to pressure the state into recognizing the unions.
