Red-White Game Getting "Social"

By:
Updated: April 19, 2012
The University of Arkansas will feature the hashtag #GOHOGS on the field inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium during Saturday's Red-White Spring Game sponsored by Cox Advanced TV.

"The hashtag on the field is just another example of our commitment to engaging our fans with the Razorbacks through social media," Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long said. "It is a simple way for our fans to show their support for our team and the student-athletes representing the University of Arkansas. We have one of the largest social media followings in the country among intercollegiate athletic programs. We will continue to work on building our fan followings on Twitter, Facebook and other outlets as a way to further connect with our fans."

The hashtag has been painted in white at the 25-yard line on the southeast and northwest sides of the field and will allow fans to show their support of the team while interacting with each other during the game.

The Razorbacks are one of the leaders in collegiate social networking with more than 36,000 followers on the athletic department's official Twitter account, @ArkRazorbacks, and more than 210,000 likes on the Arkansas Razorbacks Facebook page. Michigan and Mississippi State are the only two other schools to have painted a hashtag on their football field.

The Red-White Game begins at 2 p.m. and admission is free. The game will be aired on CST and available worldwide on ESPN3.com for those outside of the CST viewing area.
