Possible Changes to State Laws in Wake of Petrino Saga

Some legislators are calling for changes in the law in the wake of the Bobby Petrino saga.
Representative David Sanders of Little Rock says a state law regarding hiring practices could be broadened to prohibit a supervisor from hiring someone they're romantically involved with.
Petrino's
hiring of Jessica Dorrell, despite being against university policy,
wasn't against state law, lawmakers say, because current law only
prohibits the hiring of spouses.
Representative
Sanders admits it could get kind of slippery determining who's
involved with whom
But he says a law change could help prevent unfair conflicts of interest in the future.
"It's unfortunate, but this is one of those situations where a policy fix may well be in order, may be needed," said Rep. Sanders, who is a Republican.
Sanders doesn't think the law should be as broad to include other relations, like brothers or sisters. He says other lawmakers are also interested in proposing legislation in the next session, but he says there's still much more discussion to be had on the matter.
