The latest event in a series hosted by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will give guests a peek at a location few Arkansans get to see -- the War Memorial Stadium press box.

"The Doctor is In - War Memorial Stadium," is set for 6-7:30 p.m. May 10 in the suite level of the War Memorial Stadium press box. The event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by Judy Englehart and Ed Bennett of Regions Insurance and hosted by the Envoys, an advocacy group sponsored by the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute Foundation.

Free parking is available on the west side of the stadium.

Guests will have the opportunity to hear about the latest research and treatment innovations for melanoma from two Cancer Institute physicians: Brian Badgwell, M.D., assistant professor in the UAMS College of Medicine's Department of Surgery, and Stephen D'Addario, M.D., assistant professor in the UAMS College of Medicine's Department of Dermatology.

Badgwell's clinical interests include cancers of the stomach, small and large bowel, liver, pancreas, skin and soft tissue. D'Addario specializes in skin cancer and Mohs micrographic surgery, an advanced surgical technique that minimizes the chance for skin cancer recurrence and lessens the potential for scarring.

The "Doctor is In" series of events occurs regularly in locations across central Arkansas and gives the public an opportunity to meet UAMS cancer physicians in an informal setting.

Envoys is an advocacy group whose mission is to advance the outreach efforts of the Cancer Institute by promoting its physicians, scientists, programs and vision in the local community and beyond. Membership is free, and volunteering hours are flexible. For information, visit www.cancer.uams.edu/envoys.

Usually, with most insurance today, the amount the insurer pays the docs is already agreed upon. If you have insurance B, then it doesn't matter which doctor you go to, insurance B will pay the same. Only thing you can shop around is the health insurance check "Penny Health" for health insurance ideas to save money.
