Jancey Sheats does the Community Service Award nomination reports, in-depth reporting and special projects on KARK 4.

A Texas native, Jancey now has deep roots in Arkansas, is married to a Razorback and is raising three future Hogs.

She first became interested in news reporting when Hurricane Alicia blew into her hometown of Baytown, Texas in 1983. Absorbing this media event planted the seed as to her future goals. With her inquisitive nature and desire for knowledge, the exciting and fast-paced field of journalism seemed like a perfect fit.

Despite growing up in a family full of Aggies, Jancey graduated with honors from the University of Texas with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism. After college, Jancey found her way to Sherman, Texas where she worked as a producer/reporter/anchor for KXII-TV, the CBS affiliate. Her work there attracted the attention of KBMT-TV in Beaumont, Texas where she was hired to anchor their morning show. Eventually, she took over the role of five o'clock weekday anchor.

Jancey joined the KARK team in January of 2005 as co-anchor of the 5:00, 6:00, and 10:00 newscasts. In December 2008, she made the tough decision to go part-time in order to spend more time with family and anchor only the 5:00 and 6:00 newscasts. In August 2011, she began doing in-depth reporting and special projects.

Jancey has had the opportunity to cover numerous big stories while in the Natural State, including spending a week with our local Marines at Camp Pendleton, live coverage of the 50th anniversary of the desegregation of Central High School, and following the Hogs to Atlanta as they competed for an SEC Championship. Jancey has also been voted as one of the top anchors in Little Rock by "The Arkansas Times - Best of the Best."

But it's not all work and no play. One of Jancey's major interests in life is traveling. She has traveled the United States extensively and has visited six continents. (She is still trying to make her way to Antarctica.)

Her traveling days have been put on hold, for now, after the birth of twin daughters in 2007 and the addition of a third daughter in 2010. For the time being, she's content hanging around Little Rock and watching Barney on the weekends! (whom her daughter's prefer over watching "Mommy" on TV!)
