Conduct Clauses on Petrino Contract Allow for Termination

By: Razorback Nation
Updated: April 7, 2012
Razorback Nation has the original contract sent to Bobby Petrino for the head coach position, dated Dec 11, 2010. The contract, sent to Petrino from Director of Athletics Jeff Long, has language that seems to open the door for the University to terminate the coach.

The second bullet point on Page 7 states: "The Employment Agreement shall include the University's standard termination for cause provision which includes the right to terminate for cause based on significant and/or..." "otherwise engaging in conduct, as solely determined by the University, which is clearly contrary to the character and responsibilities of a person occupying the position of Head Football Coach or which negatively or adversely affects the reputation of the university or UAF's Athletics Program in any way."

The fourth bullet point on page 7 states: "The University shall have the right to terminate the Employment Agreement for convenience for any reason at any time subject to the guaranty of the Employment Agreement by the Razorback Foundation"

The second bullet point on page 8 states: "Your employment will be subject to the policies of the University and the Board of Trustees of the University of Arkansas"
