Child Abuse Cases Rising in Arkansas

A disturbing trend developing as the Arkansas Department of Human Services says child abuse cases are increasing.

In a press conference today officials with DHS said the number of cases of abuse or neglect increased from year-to-year beginning with 6,701 in 2009 to 7,821 to 2010 to 8,573 in 2011.

DHS says many of the abuse cases could be cut down of caregivers get appropriate supports.
