Rezoning Ruffling Feathers in PCSSD

The Pulaski County Special School Districts into the second phase of balancing its student population through rezoning. It means campuses in Sherwood will get some badly needed room for growth for families moving into the area. It also means outlying parts of the district will get to better fill their classrooms. Sounds good at district headquarters, but not so good in the White household of North Little Rock. Ray White thought he would have three children on the Sylvan Hills High campus this year, but his 9th graders been turned away. As a new high schooler, hes part of the group being moved.... to North Pulaski High, miles away. The district gave families the choice to keep siblings together by moving all children to the new campus assigned to one. The Whites dont want to do that because they say they dont like the environment at North Pulaski. With notice of this change having been mailed out in May, the district says all families have had time to work out other arrangements and extra spaces at schools have been filled. The Whites maintain they werent notified until last week and say David will go to private school before he goes to North Pulaski.
