MITCHELL....TOGETHER AGAIN

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
A severe mold and mildew problem drove them out of their old building and deposited students at schools around the district....but most of Mitchell Academy is now reunited. The bell rang on the first day of classes for extended calendar schools this morning and the Mitchell group was together again on the old Badgett school campus. This is the second time Badgett has been pressed into service since the district closed the facility admist much community protest. The fire-weary teachers of Wakefield elementary school just moved out last Wednesday. Their rebuilt campus is almost complete. Mitchells actual building on Battery street in Little Rock still has to undergo the second phase of repair which will entail fixing the walls and the roof and installing a new air circulation system. That project wont begin until January 2005. The price tag on the whole clean-up is about $1.8 million dollars.
