ASU Gets Defense Spending Contract

Part of the US Houses 370 billion
defense spending bill passed today will go to Arkansas State
University researchers.
If Congress can pass a final Department of Defense spending
plan, ASU would receive a Five million dollar contract to
develop devices for detecting tiny amounts of nuclear, chemical or
biological substances in the air. Researchers hope to create
something that can snuff out hidden explosives and detect chemical
or biological weapons.
Congressman Marion Berry of Arkansas says he used his position
on the House Appropriations Committee to have the money earmarked
for ASU.
