National AM Buzz: Yahoo! to Announce Layoffs Today, Oakland Shooting Suspect Due in Court

Yahoo! is reportedly getting ready to announce a massive round of layoffs today.
The Wall Street Journal reports the internet company will cut around 2,000 people, 14% of its workforce.
Yahoo! has had years of flat revenue growth. The layoffs are expected to span several departments.
Oakland Shooting Suspect Due in Court
The man suspected of shooting seven people to death at a small christian university in Oakland will make his first court appearance this afternoon.
One Goh allegedly opened fire at Oikos University on Monday killing six students and one employee. Three others were wounded.
Officials say Goh was angered by his treatment at the school. He is being held without bail.
Sentencing Day for Five Former New Orleans Police Officers
Today is sentencing day for five former New Orleans police officers.
They were convicted over the summer of shooting six unarmed civilians on the Danziger Bridge after Hurricane Katrina. Two of those people died.
The officers fired upon a group walking across the bridge looking for a safe haven.
Prosecutors alleged there was a coverup after the shootings, which included false reports and made-up witnesses.
