Hope Schools To Have Meeting About Low Test Scores

Updated: January 7, 2009
Hope school leaders plan a special meeting to consider why three of the districts four schools are on a state watch list because of low test scores. Superintendent Kenneth Muldrew asked school board members to schedule a meeting after he told them that the schools are on alert status. The schools are Hope High School, Yerger Middle School, and Beryl Henry Elementary School. Muldrew says students in at least three of six socio-economic subgroups at the schools failed to make adequate progress in improving test scores on the state benchmark exam. Under the federal No Child Left Behind program, the schools were put on alert status. The program gives the schools three years to show adequate improvement.
