A possible tuition increase at University of Arkansas schools will be taken up Friday by the system board of trustees.

According to a press release, the UA system says the new funds will address rising utility costs, technology upgrades and facility maintenance among other things.

Last year, U of A system schools raised tuition between six- and nine-and-a-half percent. In 2010, it ranged from four- to seven percent. The 2009-10 school year was the first time in 24 years when rates were not raised in Fayetteville.
