A time-lapse of ocean currents by the Scientific Visualization Studio at the Goddard Space Flight Center looks quite like one of Vincent Van Gogh's most famous works.
Compare his "Starry Night" to the image below yourself:
The animation is called Perpetual Ocean. It visualizes the ocean's surface currents over a 30-month period between June 2005 and December 2007.
The animation was created using NASA and JPL's computational model of the global oceans and sea-ice.
